Story

On Thursday 10th September, we will join 92 others for the ‘Darkness into the Light’ walk from Widnes to Warrington.

This will take place on World Suicide Prevention Day, it is a symbolic walk from darkness to light. Setting off at 2.30am from the DCBL Stadium, the home of the Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club, 94 people will take part in our walk to the Halliwell Jones Stadium, home of the Warrington Wolves.

94 Men die in the UK by suicide each week.

Suicide is preventable, but we need to work together across our communities to help save lives.

Donations will be in aid of The Lions Barber collective and here’s some information about the great work they do.

Our mission is to create non-clinical, non-judgemental safe spaces where people feel comfortable to talk about their mental health & signpost them to support and information. We do this by creating awareness, interest and desire in barbers to train & the general public to know where to find or access help. We will train the barbers using both our online and face to face BarberTalk training education packages that provide barbers with the skills to RECOGNISE, ASK, LISTEN and HELP TO HELP.Our vision is of a world free from suicide!

About the charity

We aim to raise awareness for mental wellbeing and suicide prevention, which we hope will lower the stigma and taboo surrounding them. We also aim to educate barbers to be able to RECOGNISE the signs, when to TALK, how to LISTEN and the ability to SIGNPOST those in their chairs and communities.
