Willen Hospice Tandem Skydive · 13 May 2018 ·
My Father took ill and became bedridden last year. He was not expected to last very long and my Mother became his main carer, looking after him at their home in Willen.
That all changed in September when my Mother had what appeared to be a bad cold and severe fatigue. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with acute leukemia and within 6 weeks had passed away.
We had just started to get our minds around the fact that we might loose dad soon, so to loose mum in that way, really was a cruel blow.
Willen Hospice provided great support during that time and continue to do so now with my Father.
I wanted to do something in return, to help them continue the great work that they do for families in similar circumstances to ours, so when I saw the advert for a skydive on the day after what would have been mums birthday, I thought that just has to be!
Willen Hospice provides specialist end-of-life care for adults, focusing on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.Often the most distressing aspect of living with life-limiting illnesses is the types of pain and symptoms which can arise. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers can give compassionate, specialist support to patients, and their family members, to help deal with, as they wish to, the physical and emotional effects of both their illness and treatments.
I hope you will support me by making a donation.
Thank you,
Mike
