Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running Brighton Half Marathon and raising money for RISE which supports and protects victims of domestic abuse in Sussex.

It's shocking that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives, and many of these will have children; of whom 90% will be in the same or next room when abuse occurs.

On average a woman will be attacked 35 times before she reports the abuse. It is not only heterosexual women who experience domestic abuse - both men and those in same-sex relationships are victims of domestic violence.

Last year, RISE received 2,500 calls in Sussex alone.

RISE offers crisis accomodation in two refuges, and crisis appointments, helpline, counselling, housing, legal and financial advice, solicitor's appointments, support groups, play therapy and 1-to-1 support. It costs over £4657 everyday to keep these vital, lifesaving services available for local families.

Any amount whatsoever, even a penny, that you can spare will help keep some of the most vulnerable in Sussex safe.
