As you know back in December I was diagnosed with  Oesophageal
cancer. Throughout the last 8 months I have had some  brutal but  world class care and with a bit of luck will have a future to look forward to! 

Unfortunately 60% of those diagnosed with this type of cancer will die within 12 months - its a heart breaking statistic.  As one of the lucky ones I want to do something to help improve outcomes. 

Heartburn Cancer UK are a charity that are doing some great work to improve the ways in which Oesophageal Cancer is diagnosed and treated and they are working closely with some of the specialists at the University of Southampton Hospital that have treated me so well. 

So on the 25th of September along with a great group of friends and family I will be walking 16 miles along the Test Way ( organised by the Rotary Club of Romsey)  to raise money for this great charity.  Walking 16 miles may not seem a lot to many of you but for me this will be a challenge and an incredibly important milestone in my physical recovery.
