Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We did it!!

About a year ago. one of my brother in law's, Robert Birch, mentioned that he wanted to do something special to celebrate his 50th birthday later this year. He had various ideas but eventually settled on attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the World, just under 6,000 metres in height.

Being a regular climber/walker over many years, mainly in the majesty of the Scottish Highlands, I was very interested in accompanying Robert and I 'persuaded' my son, Matthew Quish, and a close friend, Tom Harrison, to join us. Unfortunately, Ian 'McSpock' Johnson was not able to join us on this adventure but we know he will be there in spirit. We departed for Tanzania via Kenya on Friday, 4th February 2011 and reached the main summit at officially 0830 on Thursday, 10th February 2011.

Thanks for your support. I have exceeded my initial target but I am keeping this page open until the 19th February should anyone wish to contribute some more!

Regards

Mike
