Somerville is a college for women and men. Founded in 1879 to provide an opportunity for women, who at that date were excluded from membership of the University, to enter higher education in Oxford. Somerville has an excellent record of facilitating the development of bright young people and supporting the research activities of world class academics.

Story

After a long summer and no training, we got up at 7.00am to get ready to be in Richmond for 9.00am start, the weather was just perfect for cycling. We were in the first lot to start, the first few cyclists off came off their bikes on the cobblestones, so luckily for us we learnt from them not to follow. The first half of the race went well and we stopped to meet Mum, Alanna, Jessica and Aurtie Jeanette, Michala Mum, who all gave encouragement to get on and finish. The last 7 miles were really mentally and physcially challenging and we had to dig deep to complete. However, we were very lucky as 3 minutes before the end the it absolutely poured down, although we were soaked, the end was in sight - it was great to reach the finish line with everyone there cheering us on, I felt very proud of myself and Dad.

. Thank you all very much for your very kind donations, it will all go to a great cause.
