It has been a while since I set myself a personal challenge for charity (the last being the New York Marathon in 2000) so when a friend told me about this particularly challenging event (no sleep!!!!!) I thought it was the perfect endurance to push myself and do some good.

The reason I chose this local charity is because it is very personal to me and my husband as it is a place where his lovely mum, Norma, was looked after during the last few months of her life.  The care and compassion she received was outstanding and, rather than feeling sad and depressing, the Hospice had a lovely, happy feel - thanks to the amazing staff and cheery décor. 

If places like this didn't exist then I think it would be so much harder for patients and their families and so I hope you will support me in trying to raise as much money as possible so that others can have the care, help and support that our family received.
