We bring joy to UK seniors to reduce loneliness and social isolation

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As I work for Home Instead Senior Care I am aware of how tough and lonely life can be for the older generation and how limited their social life can be accessing interests that they once loved let alone try something new. This is where the Bring Joy Foundation makes a difference.

This charity has a unique vision, to help groups and organisations across the UK put a touch of sparkle onto the agenda by funding events and activities or rekindling favourite pastimes - to bring the joy and fun back into ageing.

The valuable services provided by Home Instead Senior Care’s network of independently owned and operated franchises allow people to keep their independence and continue to enjoy the comfort of their own home.  As a reflection of its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the elderly, Home Instead Senior Care’s Co-founder Sam Brocklebank, launched the organisation’s charity the Bring Joy Foundation last year.

I am the Service Co-ordinator for Home Instead Senior Care Newcastle Under Lyme franchise.  In my role I speak to many clients and their families and enjoy hearing stories about their amazing and interesting lives.  The older generation still want to enjoy themselves as much as I do and this foundation helps them to do just that.

I was inspired to set myself a challenge when I attended our National Conference in Nov 2014 where this exciting new charity was launched.  For some strange reason I have decided to walk 100KM along the Thames in 24-30hrs but knowing it is for a great cause should keep me going!
