Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After discovering one of my own family members sleeping rough, the heartbreaking year that has followed and the frustration of trying to get a way back for him into society I have really opened my eyes to the dangers , stigma and the judgement faced every day by rough sleepers !
I have also encountered a period of my own life where this so very nearly could easily have been me ! It could be any of us ! Because of these reasons and also that along the way I have come across people who genuinely and selflessly give up their time, understanding and compassion as well as resources and support to help those in these vulnerable situations. I feel passionate about giving back!!
Charities like the Society of St James gives these people a reason to want to get back up! They encourage and support and offer guidance as well as provide a friendly and non judgmental ear and really are a credit to our communities !
So somehow, after never actually abseiling before in my life, being petrified of heights , I have agreed to attempt an abseil down Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower ! The descend is 350ft, I have discovered, and a lot higher than I thought when I first suggested it ! Whilst, some may say, not a demanding physical task (clearly not stood at the bottom looking up) the challenge for me will be the mental place I need to be to get me to the bottom! Those who know me well will know although this won't be easy I am super determined !
I have also roped in my partner in crime Leonie Campbell and we have come up with the idea to do this superhero style and dress as our favourite DC/ Marvel super hero!!
Without the support and guidance from charities such as Society of St James to some of the most vulnerable people in or society, getting back up and into the community through employment, rehabilitation, housing and Legal services can seem like an impossibility.Society of St James Place gives a lifeline to those affected by homelessness through many different reasons,
