Story

My name is Shell and I'm a happily married mum of two, i work in theatres within the NHS and see what people and their families go through everyday fighting cancer.

Just  before Christmas 2012 my mum, Jackie aged 49, had a wide local excision and full axillary node clearance for an aggressive breast tumour, unfortunately the margins were not clear of the cancer and she came back for a second op to remove more tissue.  last week we discovered the second op hadn't cleared the tumour either!

Now the plan is to begin chemotherapy (6sessions) slow the growth and return for a full mastectomy before continuing with chemo and radiotherapy.

The good news is her CT scan was clear (seems like it hasn't spread to other parts of her body) and tests have shown it will be responsive to treatment!

It will be tough going through all the treatment for her but she is a strong inspiring lady and I know she will beat this and when she told me she was not going to let the chemo take her hair but she would shave it first to raise money for Macmillan (an amazing organisation offering support on so many levels!) I knew I had to do it with her and show my support and love for her.

Doing this I am hoping to raise money and awareness for breast care, every woman should check regularly and attend routine mammograms,  it could save your life! My mums was picked up early, due to its aggressive nature if it had been much longer the story on here could have been so different!

Even if you can't spare any cash spread the word, it could save lives!!

Thankyou x
