On 24th September 2018 my life was turned upside down. I had been ill for months and on this day we finally found out the reason. This was the day i was diagnosed with cancer. After lots of testing, i found out that my cancer was a very rare neuroendocrine cancer, which unfortunately is not curable but can be treated to slow it down or hopefully stop it from spreading further.
There was a lot going on in my life at this time. My wife was 7 months pregnant with our second child and we were in the process of buying a new house. 
I really struggled to come to terms with my diagnosis. It has been the most difficult time of my life. I worried about my health, my son and my unborn child. But most of all, I worried about Nuala. I worried about how she was coping with it all. She was my rock. She attended every appointment and stayed with me in hospital for days even though I know she was in no fit state to. But I began to worry a lot about who Nuala could turn to for support.
Thats were Charis came in. I contacted Charis following a reccomendation from another person who had received suppport from them. They held up a light at a very dark time. They helped me to understand that I wasnt alone. With their treatments and counselling I have found a place which helps me understand what im going through and which helps me deal with it in a positive way. They also helped Nuala to deal with what was going on. They taught us that cancer not only affects the individual, it also greatly affects those closest to them
Charis depend on fundraising and charitable donations, so i though it only fair that i help them like they have helped me. I hope to see you at Ritz Kidz in Cookstown on the 30/03 between 9 and 11 am for some coffee and cake.
