Niamh's Next Step was set up in Dec 2012 after we lost our amazing little girl to the childhood cancer, neuroblastoma in May 2012. We very proud to be funding vital research programs into this vile, aggressive childhood cancer but there is so much more to do. Please donate and help save our children

Thank you for taking the time to visit our page!

The employees at MAHLE Powertrain Manufacturing have chosen Niamh's next step as their charity after receiving a massive majority in a vote.

I asked myself how best to support the charity and come to the conclusion that my passion for mountaineering had the most potential. I am an experienced mountain leader that has taken young people and adults climbing and mountaineering all over the world and want to take some of my team into the mountains, test them to the limits and give them a positive experience that they will never forget.

I heard a member of our team saying we should do the 3 peaks for Niamh's next step. Based on my experience I challenged the morality of this event as we would have to drive up and down the country as well as it having huge environmental impact due to the amount of people completing the challenge. I also want to do something more physically demanding as I want to justify why I think people should part with their hard earned cash. The Welsh 3000's is a challenging trek up and down 15 mountains over 3000 feet in North Wales, the initial aim is to complete this challenge within 24 hours. This will mean ascending and descending these mountains during the day and night, having a support crew to supply us with food and drink when we meet any roads. This is a physical and mental challenge through one of the most stunning parts of Britain and possibly the world. The Trek means the team will be faced with knife edged ridges, river crossings, scrambling up rock faces and the arduous task of walking up steep tracks.

The cause we are supporting on this trek was chosen by our employees as part of our CSR program. Its a local charity that reaches out nationally by supporting those effected by Neuroblastoma ; an aggressive childhood cancer that targets young children, of which only a small proportion survive. Research and awareness of this condition is essential if we are to learn how to defeat such an unforgiving condition ; to help families through what will be probably the toughest time of their lives, and to remember a little girl Niamh who was taken so young by such a terrible disease who lends her name to this worthy cause. Niamh's Next Step helps fund that research.

Please give what you can to support this amazing charity, what we will be putting ourselves through on this challenge is nothing compared to that of the friends, family and children that have to endure this terrible disease.

Thank you for the support!!
