Tackle Africa - Football Marathon 2010 · 7 August 2010 ·

TackleAfrica uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services to young people on football pitches across the continent

Story

On August 7th, 2010  I'll be playing football (soccer) with my two brothers and some friends for 12 hours, working to raise money for Tackle Africa.

As I'm not known for my footballing skills, team-members and opposition alike will be at more risk from my tackles than my goal-scoring ability. But I've been informed that I won't be able to spend 12 hours sat on the goal-line wearing a comfy pair of gloves either.

It is dangerous - last year people broke legs, suffered horribly coloured toe-nails and probably ran close to exhaustion (one may expect to run a marathon distance in the time).

It's been a hard year for us all, and there's probably more to come. But there are people out there who have it harder, and this year if ever is the year when football related education has a chance of helping in Africa. So please, find your wallet, Paypal account, bag of gold under the bed, whatever, and drop a few pounds/euros/dollars/ into this fund-raising activity.

Thanks.
