Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon · 12 October 2014 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I'm running the Yorkshire Marathon on 12th October in memory of my Granddad, Harry Jepson, who passed away in May this year after suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's is an incredibly cruel disease which gradually took away a man who was strong, proud, respected and loved by all who knew him.

Alzheimer's has no sympathy and as yet there is no cure.

I know that any money I raise will not be able to reverse the effects of this disease but I hope to be able to support the family and friends of other people who have to shoulder the heavy burden of caring for a loved one like my family did.

I've never run a marathon and I know it's going to hurt like hell, but a few hours pain is nothing compared with what my granddad endured.

I'm running for my Hero - a man I loved and respected a great deal - and I hope you can support me so that my contribution can help others to support their heroes.

Thank you,
Mike
