As part of the run, ride or climb for Lyme Challenge taking place this year I will be running 75k in a month (as a complete newbie to running!) to raise awareness of the devastating effects Lyme disease can have on someone's life, and help Caudwell Lyme Co charity in their fight to obtain better testing, diagnosis and understanding of Lyme Disease in the UK.

The cancellation of the London Marathon among other fundraising events this year has lead to the loss of billions in income for charities across the UK. The London Marathon alone raised £66.4million in 2019 and without this income many charities are being forced to reduce or even stop services at such a time when vulnerable members of society may need them most.

I am partaking in this challenge in memory of the truly wonderful Fizz Watkins, who was and is so much to me. Despite a turbulent fight with the devastating effects of Lyme disease she could brighten a room in a matter of seconds and her talent, kindness and energy was infectious. I am starting the challenge on her birthday and will be including some of her favourite spots on my running routes.  This one's for you, Fizz xxx
