Miss EG's London Marathon

London Marathon · 26 April 2015
Well hello there! Thanks for stopping by my JustGiving page! My story? I’m not a runner - but I gave the London Marathon a good go!
In pushing myself beyond what I THINK I’m capable of, I’ve learned that these moments in life surprise us.
When I was diagnosed with MS in 2010 - after months of denial, I finally recognized that life is short. The only constant in life, is change – and this, being a big change for me meant it was now even more important to make every moment in life count. I made a bucket list, not because I felt I was dying - but because for the first time in my life, I understood the importance of really living intentionally.
I became no longer content to simply allow things to happen. I have a responsibility to be intentional in my response to life’s changes. I decide day by day (sometimes moment to moment) that my time on this planet will be meaningful...with emphasis on FULL.
I will live – laugh – love – grow and encourage others to do the same. Make plans, dream dreams, set goals. Once the decision is made to achieve them - the rest is incidental detail…and then on to the next. I ticked this off my bucket list because I believed it was possible - despite not being a runner!
At the end of my life I want to represent the idea that anything is possible. Why not me? Why not you? ...& if I can, YOU can...WE can!
I want to make this biggie count! Raising money for the MS Society is my way of saying thank you for the many times they’ve reminded me I am not alone.
Day to day life is a challenge. As an MS fighter I know how important it is to keep going. Fatigue, pain, meds & ‘low mood’ could have me beaten if I let it. But I won’t let it. I will continue to find reasons to keep going...to just keep it movin’ - finding my way to and through every possibility. By God’s grace I live by one of my favorite quotes:
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.”
This still keeps me going. This, and more was just what this marathon was about for me.
Join me on our journey, the more the merrier! Let’s find a way to make the MS fight easier. Together, let’s keep it movin’!
