London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
This last year has been a struggle to say the least. After giving birth to my beautiful second daughter Esmae, I found a lump and assumed it was down to feeding. However, after several trips to the doctors, our greatest fear became a reality, and when Esmae was just 3 months old I found out that I had breast cancer. Being 25 and having just given birth, this came as a big shock. The mix of postpartum hormones and the reality of the upcoming year terrified me, but by far my biggest fear was our two little girls. My thoughts ranged from juggling hospital appointments and childcare, to whether or not I would be around to see them grow up at all.
From the moment of diagnosis right through to today, Macmillan have been there not only for me but for my whole family. They offered genuine support, advice and resources and do whatever they can to help make this journey that little bit more bearable.
I have since been through 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 9 hours of surgery and 15 rounds of radiotherapy not to mention the countless injections, blood tests, biopsies, scans and hospitalisations. During these times I often said that when this is all over I would love to take in a challenge in order to give something back. With the help of God, family, friends and all the incredible staff at the Royal marsden i am able to take part in the London marathon 2019 with team Macmillan. This is such an honour and goal I can’t wait to achieve!! I appreciate you reading my story and would love for you to donate!!
