African Children's Fund's work with grassroots partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe in education and children’s rights is making a real difference to the lives of almost 5,000 children born into poverty every year. www.africanchildrensfund.org

Story

On the 19th June 2015, I'll be setting off with my best friend Alice on a 2,000 mile adventure from Leeds, through Europe and ending up in Africa, eventually reaching Marrakech, the capital of Morocco (hopefully!). we'll be hitchhiking the whole journey, relying on kind strangers to help us get there, so if you see us please give us a lift!

I'll be raising money for the African Children's Fund, an incredible UK based charity that works to break down the barriers preventing children leading happy and fulfilled lives in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
The African Children's Fund believe that every child should:

  • Have adequate food and shelter
  • Have the opportunity to learn and go to school
  • Be cared for and nurtured
  • Live without fear, with the expectation of equality and justice
  • Be given a voice and have their opinions respected and concerns addressed

This incredible charity has more brilliant campaigns and programmes than I could list here, but works from many different angles to ensure that children are given the best opportunities possible, allowing them to live a safe and enjoyable life, gain an education and give them the best start possible into adult life.

I am aiming to raise £400 for the African Children's Fund, and absolutely any amount you could donate would be a great help towards such an important cause, every penny or pound helps so please donate anything you can afford.
These bullet points show how easily you can help support these children:

  • £5 - Provides a girl with sanitary towels and improved sanitation facilities
  • £10 - Covers basic stationary for an entire class
  • £20 buys a school uniform, enabling a child to attend secondary school
  • £25 will fund tools and seeds for a kitchen garden
  • £35 Provides 500 bowls of porridge to children in their schools
So if 5 people gave £1 each this would allow a girl to continue going to school when she otherwise may be unable or not allowed too!
So please please please give anything you can to this brilliant cause!

Thank you!
