Story

Doing something for charity is not new to us, we all like “giving something back” but the idea of challenging ourselves to trek the Great Wall of China to support Brian House Children’s Hospice is certainly our biggest fundraiser yet and is definitely going to be the challenge of a lifetime.

The four of us are not experienced hikers; a few hours stroll around the Trafford Centre or the Lakes is our most arduous experience so far! So 5 gruelling days trekking various stretches of the Great Wall will not be easy for us and will take us massively out of our comfort zones.

The accommodation looks basic, the food ‘authentic’ and the schedule tough (1,000 step Heavenly Ladder on day 5!) but we have set ourselves a training schedule and bought or borrowed all the gear so now we need to get on and start training.

The thought of helping the Hospice is what is driving us to do this challenge. We’ve seen the fabulous work that the Hospice does and heard first hand from families who call Brian House their lifeline. We
just want to raise as much money as possible – plain and simple!

We are funding the entire trip ourselves so every penny that we raise in sponsorship will go to Brian House.

Please dig deep, every penny really does help.
