Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

The Crow Quill's story

On Saturday November 12th the team at the Crow Quill Tattoo Studio in Southampton will be offering a selection of designs to be tattooed to raise money for Parkinsons UK, with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

The artists at the Crow Quill want to run this event to raise awareness about Parkinsons after a close friend of the studio was diagnosed with the neurological condition three years ago.

“We have all learned a lot about the condition after finding out that our wonderful friend was diagnosed, she has been such a huge supporter of our tattoo journey right from the beginning and her strength and light throughout the past few years have been really inspiring. We have all felt motivated to run this event to show support both to her and to everyone who has been affected by Parkinsons in some way, to promote awareness about the condition and to raise some funds for the wonderful people at Parkinsons UK in support of all the amazing things that they do.”

Each of the artists will have a selection of pre-drawn designs that will be available to be tattooed on November 12th, inspiration for some these designs being taken from the symbol of Parkinsons awareness - the Tulip. On the day there will also be artwork, prints, tshirts and jewellery available to buy to support the cause and for those not willing to brave the needle a Just Giving page has been set up where donations can be made.

Please help us spread the word by liking and sharing the event and feel free to invite your friends. We appreciate all the support from our customers and look forward to raising as much money as we can for this worthy cause!

My story

"Having been diagnosed with Parkinson's over two years ago, I decided that I may have Parkinson's but Parkinson's will not have me. Since my diagnosis, I have been determined to fight back and both learn more about the condition and also contribute in any way I can. Together with new friends in the support group, I contribute to research programs with the eventual aim of finding a cure. Also, I enjoy the challenge of raising funds and as well as taking part in short sponsored walks, I take pleasure and satisfaction in organising my own fundraising events. My latest venture came about from an offer by some close friends. They own a tattoo studio in Southampton, The Crow Quill, and have generously offered to work an entire day with all fees from that day donated to Parkinson's UK. I am so grateful for the support and generosity from these lovely and amazing artists. We also understand that body art is not everybody's cuppa tea but that people may want to donate to this worthy cause anyway. With this in mind, we have opened a Just Giving page and we thank you in advance for your kind donations. I have no doubt that the day will be great fun and to help everybody we will have cakes and refreshments to the ready. Come and see us!" Monique
