Story

A challenge to drive the 810 miles from Reading to Montpellier and back in a weekend.

Eight brave drivers will endeavour to drive the entirety of France in a single day and return a day later. The catch? The journey must be made in a car bought for £250 or less…

Four mechanical marvels of motoring have been purchased and are awaiting the long journey South. Radiators have been sealed, insulation stripped off and emergency repairs have been completed in the hope that it will be sufficient to see these veteran vehicles through the 1600 mile journey that will take them across the Millau Viaduct and through Paris. Will it be enough? Only time will tell!

Every heroic machine that makes it back home will be auctioned or scrapped and all money generated will be donated to the Taplow Traffic Charity Trust.

100% of all donations received will go to charity. All costs incurred by the trip are being funded entirely by those taking part.

Any money that you can donate to this incredible charity, which aims to brighten the lives of children who have lost their parents in a road traffic collision, would be greatly received.

Thank you.

Taplow Traffic Charity Trust:

“Taplow is a Roads Policing/Traffic Base of Thames Valley Police, from where officers deal with some of the fatal road collisions that tragically occur in the Thames Valley Police area.

The charity has been described as an exclusive club for special children, although given a choice, those children would have chosen not to join but to have kept their family.”
