We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs to ensure they have a happy future

Story

Our boy, Chase, gave us all a big fright at the end of last week, we're only just recovering now! Do you remember Chase, the gorgeous Collie who turned up in a real state and massively overweight, needing a huge operation on both of his legs, teeth out and lots of rehabilitation in order to have a happy future? After seven months of rehab, he found his long term foster home with Gwen, Janet and Tim who lavished him with attention and love, but then suddenly at the end of last week. he stopped showing any interest in food (not like Chase at all) and then after a vet check up, started to be sick a lot. We were really worried. Chase had to stay in at the vets for three days whilst the vets tried to establish what was going on via Ultrasound and X Rays. After a barium test with X Rays every hour, the vets discovered that the path of his food was quite abnormal and very slow, but Chase was responding well to his treatment (he is SUCH a trooper) and so he could finally go back to his foster home. We've got to keep an eye on how he responds over the next few days, if he takes another turn then it does indicate that the sickness may have been caused by something more serious, and we have to be really mindful of his valvular heart disease when we decide on what exploring we can do with him, but if he seems to fully recover, then he may just be out of the woods yet again!

Please everybody keep everything crossed for our brave, brave boy, that he makes a full recovery in his lovely long term foster home, and gets to enjoy his retirement. After EVERYTHING he has been through since arriving with us (a femoral head ostectomy on both legs, teeth removal, removal of an undescended testicle, severe colitis, a valvular heart disease diagnosis and now this) he so deserves his retirement.

Chase's medications and physiotherapy costs the rescue around £200 per month, and his recent treatments and vet stay will be a significant cost to us. We have launched a Just Giving appeal for Chase, if you can donate anything at all. We would be so grateful. Please click this link to donate.
