Story

Team Mooving East (Tom Crabtree and Matt Doherty) have accepted a challenge known as The Mongol Rally. The Mongol Rally is a charity event that aims to raise money for Cool Earth, a charity that works to put indigenous people back in control of the world’s most endangered rainforests. In order to qualify for the rally, we as a team have to raise a minimum of £500 which is donated to Cool Earth and another £500 which will be donated to our charity of choice, Macmillan Cancer Support.

The task in hand is to drive approximately 10,000 miles from London to Ulan-Ude, Russia, in a car made for nothing more than tottering to the shops and back. Our mighty steed chosen for such an adventure is a 1999 Fiat Seicento, which will carry us through Europe, across Central Asia, into Kazakhstan and Mongolia and make our final crossing into Russia where we will cross the finish line in the city of Ulan-Ude. Over our 6 week journey we will be faced with, deserts, mountain ranges and make-shift gravel tracks in some of the least densely populated countries in the world.
