SEEDS4Tanzania.org is a small charity aiming to build a pre-school in 2 remote villages in Tanzania. The schools will give basic education for approx 300 orphans. This project, run in partnership with the villagers, will give them and the children skills that we hope will lead to a better future.

Story

Last year a group of Trinity School sixth form students, School Chaplain and Assistant Head travelled for the first time to Tanzania, East Africa to the Diocese of Mpwapwa. They visited the villages of Chitemo and Nyhinila and were welcomed by a large group of singing children, approximately 300, little toddlers to children of 7 years of age. These children were orphans. Their parents had died mainly from Aids, dysentery, malaria or childbirth. Many areas of Africa can be cruel when it comes to the care of orphans and those with physical or mental disabilities because there is no infrastructure to deal with them. Orphans will have a tough life, often left to fend for themselves from a very young age. However, in these two villages the church has taken it upon itself to care for them asking the villagers, who themselves are very poor, to give them a home. The children have nothing to call their own, few clothes, no toys, and no school facilities apart from what volunteers are able to do for them. Their activities are always held outdoors, the only shade being a tree. One of the most distressing realities of our visit was the lack of water for the children. At most they can expect a cup of water a day and a bowl of maize mixed with water. One day in ten they do not eat or drink. Our aim on our return to the UK was to raise funds to provide a water bore hole for the villages. This will be £4000. Trinity School has  been inspired by compassion for these children and have organised many events to date to raise this money. For our final fund raiser a group of staff and their husbands and older children have volunteered to do a sky dive to help in this mission for water. If we raise more than £4000 we will use the extra funding to help pay for our over land travel for our next school mission.

Thank you for your support.
