Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2018 · 28 July 2018 to 29 July 2018 ·
My name is Haleema and my best friend, my absolute world, my mum, was diagnosed with a stage 4 Glioblastoma this year. As a family we have been through some dark times but we cannot thank the endless hours of support our hospital and Macmillan have done for us so me and my friends are taking part in the Tough Mudder for Macmillan on the 28th of July.
My Mum found out she had a brain tumour in March this year, after being ill for several months before hand and still continuing to work 2 jobs and be the best Mum in the world.
Nothing can ever describe what you go through when you or someone close to you is told that they have a brain tumour.
My mum is a people person, she knows absolutely everyone and is loved by everyone around her.
She is also the most caring mum, daughter, sister, friend, surrounded by plenty of people that love her. Worked hard all her life to give me and my younger brother an adventurous and loving home life, she’s funny, crazy and bubbly the most supportive person ever, supported me through my various life choices and always been there no matter what for me.
One week after finding out she had a brain tumour she underwent brain surgery to try and remove as much as they could and find out more. a scary weekend followed with 2 bleeds on the brain me and my family spent all the time we could in the hospital. Then recovery began and we can’t thank the Hull Royal Infirmary staff enough for the endless hours of care and more, they were amazing and did everything and anything they could for our family. About 2 weeks later we found out it was stage 4 Glioblastoma which is a very aggressive form of cancer. This shook our whole world as a family and the rest of the people around her including close friends. She is now undergoing radiation therapy and chemo therapy to hopefully get rid or slow down the cancer.
We are heartbroken but all we want to do is anything we can to support my mum and enjoy our lives, but we also would do anything to support others in their situations that may be very similar to ours. We want to ‘do our bit’ to raise awareness and support but also raise plenty of funds to donate to the amazing charity Macmillan Cancer care who has in such a small amount of time already done so much for us, and to help them keep doing stuff for others.
Please donate as much as you can, whatever amount means so much to us.
