We support people affected by bipolar to manage their condition in everyday life

Story

After fighting with mental health and being diagnosed with bipolar just over 3 years ago, our beautiful daughter Megan lost the battle and took her own life on December 12th 2022.

As a family our lives can never be the same again, but in 2024 we’re continuing to undertake more Muddy Miles For Megs to raise awareness and funds for Bipolar UK with Megan forever in our hearts and minds ❤️❤️❤️

On January 6th Callum, Megan’s brother ran a marathon in Oxfordshire with one of his best friends for George’s 30th birthday.

Andy, Megan’s Dad is currently taking part in the Bipolar U.K. pole to pole challenge, looking to run and walk 2,000 miles having started on May 13th 2023 and finishing on March 30th 2024, world Bipolar Day.

At the end of March,  Andy & Callum are running the Saddleworth 3 peaks, a route of 18 miles with over 3,500 feet of climbing.

On April 20th, close to Megans birthday, a group of Megan's family and friends will be hiking the Saddleworth 5 Trigs. A 20 mile route with over 3,400 feet of elevation.

On May 17th, a group of family and friends will be joining a team of Megans work colleagues from Indicia Worldwide to run the Bristol 1/2 marathon.

On the 26th of May, Katie and Megan, two of Megans best friends are running the Great Manchester 10k.

On Sunday the 13th of October, Megans sister and her husband Scott will run the Manchester 1/2 marathon.

All donations will go to Bipolar UK to try and prevent other families experiencing the same devastating grief we are suffering.

“Bipolar is a severe, lifelong mental health condition characterised by highs and lows. At their most extreme, the highs can lead to delusional thinking and psychosis, and the lows to suicidal thoughts.

Tragically, someone living with bipolar is 20 times more likely to take their own life than someone without the condition, with at least 1/20 of all people who take their own life in the UK having a diagnosis of bipolar. Which is why the work of Bipolar UK is so important.

Bipolar UK is the only dedicated national charity supporting those affected by bipolar, and they currently reach 389,000 people annually in the UK. They offer peer support to anyone affected by bipolar through in-person and online group meetings, call-back and email support, and a moderated eCommunity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
