Help me to Build A Masjid and Water Well in Uganda

TV Appeal · 5 April 2022
Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah
My dear brothers and sisters. As many of you will know, I returned from a charity trip to Uganda in March 2022. During the trip, we visited some of the most remote villages where there is a total lack of basic infrastructure, no water source for miles, no toilet except a communal one for an entire village approximately a mile away, and no place of worship. This meant that children were suffering from water-borne diseases such as typhoid, people faced danger when using a communal toilet, and a lack of prayer space meant there was no way to build a community that could offer prayers and an education for all.
On the other hand, we visited a village where a mosque and a water well had been built with your kind donations. This village had reduced the number of illnesses that were related to unclean water. It also had a mosque built in the centre of the village which served multiple purposes, from being a beacon of hope to all the surrounding districts to accommodating men and women to pray in the shade where temperatures can reach as high as 44 degrees Celsius (which it was, the days I spent in the villages). It also meant that children could be given an education from a young age and the time saved from going out to collect water could be utilised for women to take on additional recreational activities.
This Ramadan, I would like your help to build a mosque for a village which I visited which has nothing but the most basic of homes. Through a desperately needed prayer space, we can bring entire communities together, and through the most basic of need in our life, water, we can help eradicate many illnesses, and build prosperous communities.
A deepwater well which is motorised to allow a tap function and ensure that it does not get damaged for years ahead, costs in the region of £5,000.00 to build. This allows hundreds of people within a village surrounding to access water at any given time with no restrictions or difficulty.
A mosque space that accommodates both men and women and is built to the highest standard costs in the region of £10,000.00. This lasts for generations and is a stepping-stone in building a strong community where it can be used for multiple purposes.
I will myself be revisiting Uganda once we have raised all the hands, Allah allowing, to update you directly on your kind donations and to show you how the project has unfolded. The proceeds of your donations will go directly towards building the much-needed mosque and water well for a village that I have had the good fortune of visiting and Insha’Allah one that I will keep you on that journey. Please donate generously and also share with your loved ones so we can build a prosperous community together Insha’Allah.
Your brother, Murshid.
