Story

6 (nearly middle aged) amateur trekkers, Elias Hadjikyriacou, Adhir Ramdarshan, David Bramall, Howard Roberts, Daniel Niezgoda and Gary Brown have decided to embark on a trekking challenge by scaling the 3 highest UK peaks in 24 hours!!

Starting with Ben Nevis (1,344m), followed by Scafell Pike (978m) at night and finally Mount Snowdon (1,085m), we aim to summit all 3 within a 24 hour period on the weekend of the 25th of June 2021. This 42km trek is across rugged but picturesque terrain and is described with a rating of "extreme".

Oh dear what have we signed up for, we now have 4 months to get fit!!!!

It's something all 6 of us have always wanted to tick off and say we have completed and now we have the chance to do it and even more importantly for a great local cause, Noah's Ark Children's' Hospice!

They provide support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families in North and Central London and Hertsmere, enabling them to live full lives and to achieve their aspirations. They ensure that families are able to live life as fully as possible while their child is still alive and go on to face the future with hope after bereavement.

The children they work with have a range of conditions and often have very complex needs. Their services aim to help the children, their siblings and parents make the most of the time they have together, and continue to support families after bereavement.

Working with over 500 parents and carers, they have acquired a deep understanding of families’ needs. They understand the need for holistic care, addressing emotional, clinical, social and practical needs. That’s why they tailor their approach to the needs of the families.

In 2008, Noah’s Ark was the first children’s hospice to establish a community volunteering project after identifying that families needed support to spend time with their ill child. Their volunteers make a real impact at home, at events and across the charity.

In 2019, they started providing services at their new hospice building, The Ark in Barnet. This fantastic facility has been developed on a 7.5 acre nature reserve and will enable us to offer more services to more families who urgently need our help. It’s the hospice building that London has been crying out for.

About the charity

We help babies, children and young people with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, and their families, make the most of every day. And we support those who die young to do so in as much comfort as possible, surrounded by family.
