David member of this club and treasurer, he was diagnosed Autistic in
1962 and with Aspergers
Syndrome in 2003. Up till early 2008 had received no support what so
ever, even after 2nd diagnosis. One characteristic of Autism is
sometimes unusual behaviour.
One of his is swimming fully clothed in sportswear with female
swimsuits and bikini’s. David has used this to raise funds for a number
of
Charities over the years; he is also running a recycling scheme with
stamps, coins, medals and precious metals etc, for further information
on this part of fundraising contact David on 0845-257-0813. Please
support him, on this endeavour to raise much-needed
funds.

National Autistic Society – Support and Outreach for Mature Autistic/Aspergers
Group. One of the newest branches in the NAS. Formally accepted as a branch in early September 2009. (This was the first group of its type, to be set up within the NAS run solely
by people on the spectrum, other than the Chair Person).
This is a social
skills support group for any diagnosed adults (age 18+) with an autistic
spectrum disorder namely Aspergers Syndrome. At present there is little or no
support or understanding for adults on the spectrum from any Government
organisation or from the NHS. The group encourages and teaches socialising
skills, enabling people to understand themselves and why they think differently
as well as encouraging a range of outings and activities. The Plymouth group
meet now meet every week on Thursday evenings, other groups in Newton Abbott and Exeter – for more information on the
group contact Mrs Barbara Wilson - Chair Person 01404-813-021.
