Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

This year NFU Mutual launched the Farm Safety Foundation’s
campaign Mind Your Head, focusing on mental well-being within the farming industry. Levels of depression in this industry are thought to be increasing and suicide rates in agricultural workers are among the highest in any occupational group. This campaign aims to encourage farmers and farming families not to neglect themselves, but to put themselves first, ‘open up’ and get some help and advice on whatever concerns they have.

In order to raise money for this great cause the Agency Department is doing their bit. 15 people are taking on a challenge in Wales which will be held on Saturday 29th September 2018 and consists of -

  • Climbing high above the clouds to 1,085m to summit Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales
  • And zip-wiring for over a mile at 125mph on Velocity, the longest zip line in Europe and the fastest in the world!

About the charity

The Farm Safety Foundation

RCN 1159000
Rising concern over the continuing high level of fatal and life-changing injury accidents on farms prompted NFU Mutual to set up a charitable foundation to help all farmers, and especially young farmers, work more safely. The Foundation works closely with farmers, the farming unions and a range of farming organisations, including the Farm Safety Partnerships of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, to help reduce the toll of fatal and serious injury accidents which, regrettably, have made farming the most dangerous occupation in the UK. The Foundation's 'Yellow Wellies' campaign specifically targets young farmers aged 16 to 40 years of age.
