Story
Starting on the 21st August our team of 10 will take on the formidable 3 peaks challenge. For those who are unfamiliar with this particular challenge, that means climbing the tallest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) with limited support along the way - all in a 24 hour window.
On paper, we’re a bunch of young, healthy 20-somethings with a spring in our step. In reality, it’s a real mixed bag of fitness, minimal training time, rusty ankle joints and old lingering footballing injuries. So we could really use all the support and motivation we can get!
Inspired by the protests for racial equality that ripped through the US and UK over the last year, and the consistent racial injustice seen on a daily basis across the western world, we have chosen to raise money for Show Racism the Red Card. SRTRC is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity - a fantastic organisation working to combat the systemic racism present in the UK today in connection with footballing communities across the country. There has never been a more evident time to show support for organisations such as this one - so we really appreciate you helping us out with our fundraising targets and raising money to support the work of SRTRC. Thanks!
Show Racism The Red Card is an anti-racism educational charity. We aim to combat racism through enabling role models, who are predominately but not exclusively footballers, to present an anti-racist message to young people and others. Show Racism The Red Card acknowledges that racism changes, as do the experiences of Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities in the UK. Our message and activities therefore need to be able to respond to such changes as and when appropriate.
