We raise funds in aid of Myotonic Dystrophy to support families and facilitate research

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of schoolmates that are training to become superheroes! We have tried flying, telepathy, teleport, magic and other superpowers unsuccessfully. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that these come with age. We have explored a secret power that not many people are aware - to help children who are less fortunate than us by running or walking.

We will be putting our secret powers in use and we will be running in order to help support children with a condition called Congenital Myotonic Dystrophy or CDM. CDM children are usually born poorly and not many get the chance to have a 1st year birthday party. Older children with CDM tire easily so they can't play games long or fast enough. They also have difficulties in school as they can't always concentrate and often like to move a lot. Most of the times they need to repeat themselves as many people can't understand what they are saying. Usually they can't have a wide smile or blow their cheeks. They also cough or choke when they eat so many have their food through a magic tube in their tummy. Some may have twisted feet and fall too many times when walking so they need to wear special boots to help them walk. Like our baby sister and brothers, children with CDM may often need wear nappies. They also get sick very easily and have to go to the hospital.
