We work with young people to tackle knife crime and keep them safe

Story

** Sunday 25th August 2019 - walking the Thames Path from Surbiton to Hammersmith Bridge **

Violent crime is soaring across London. In the borough of Kingston alone it is up by 191% since 2016. Tragically, those most affected by knife crime are often young Londoners.

Whilst we need to have a strong police response to this terrible problem, that is only part of the solution; by the time a police officer is involved, it is too late. The damage is already done.

We need to prevent young people from making the decision to carry a knife in the first place. That's why I am fundraising for the Ben Kinsella Trust. Their work in schools across London seeks to educate young people on the dangers of carrying knives, to show them the realities of prison life and to help them make positive choices to stay safe.

My target of £1000 will help the Trust run 6 anti-knife crime workshops in schools across London; that's at least 200 children educated on the dangers of knife crime.

I'm running for election to the London Assembly because I want to play my part in halting the scourge of knife crime, but I don't want to wait till May 2020 to start.

So on Sunday 25th August I will walk the 12.5+ miles of the Thames Path through the South West London GLA constituency from Surbiton to Hammersmith Bridge to raise funds for the Ben Kinsella Trust.

Help me to help the Trust and the fantastic work they do in London.

** All funds raised go directly to the Trust. **
