Hey!

So I really am doing this! I've got two weeks to raise the money and train! ha... This will be my first hike and my very first JustGiving page. I don’t think I realise what I have signed up for, but… #YOLO?

For the past 10 weeks I've been working on a garden with members at The Bradbury, one of two centres run by Age Concern Kingston. It is an awesome place that gives individuals support, purpose, responsibility and friendship. The centre relies on its members as volunteers and has only two employed staff. If you were to speak to some of our pals at the Bradbury, many would tell you that this place has saved them.

My social enterprise, Rootless Garden, needs £800 to help pay for a mosaic which will be the centrepiece of the garden, allowing the members to get outside and appreciate the space year round. We are creating this with the Bradbury members and a community mosaic artist, Tamara Froud: http://vimeo.com/89332711

  The process of all of us working to design and build the mosaic and garden has been extraordinary, it has brought a lot of wonderful and different people together. We believe that creativity, collaboration and teamwork can do much more than just aesthetics. We have seen how it impacts people’s lives for the better, the members of the gardening club have told us that the project has given them something new to look forward to on their weekly meetings. Any contribution you can make to this project will continue to make the members of Age Concern Kingston smile for years to come. 

Any funds raised over the £800 will go to the upkeep and improvement of the garden and supporting the gardening club.
