If you look on my profile picture you will see a tandem parachute jump in the background to the left of my face. I was in Turkey in July 2011 on holiday in this photo, and me and my children were looking at people doing a tandem parachute jump!! In hind sight, I was comtemplating it back then and only just realised it myself when I saw the picture in the background now 02/04/2012.
I did my jump yesterday on April's fools day and was the first one out of the plane with my instructor, and first one of the day too! Nobody wanted to go first, so my instructor said that we would go first and I obliged! I think that I was pretty much in the ZONE for this jump therefore nothing and nobody could possibly talk me out of it, no matter how much they tried and I think I did it for a very good cause too!
I was so relaxed on the day and whilst climbing altitude to 10,000ft I still wasn't phased......not one bit!! My palms were not sweaty and my fingers never trembled, in fact, I was really enjoying and savouring the moment and looking forward to the jump!! Sitting in the doorway of the aircraft and the initial jump was the most terrifying part, and the adrenaline evidentally kicked in at this point........but whilst free falling, there is something magical and surreal about looking down on the earth with the houses, buildings, lake, rivers, roads and fields like a patchwork quilt getting gradually bigger and bigger as you descend! It was awesome, breath taking, exhilarating and felt like an out of body and out of this world experience. There are not enough words on this planet to summarize or describe the way I felt during the jump, and I strongly advise that everybody should try this at least once. Its like all kinds of emotions mixed into one pot! I am definitely going to do this again.......hopefully solo the next time and highly recommend to all! Its definitely one of the ten top things you should do before you die and my new slogan is.........."The sky's the limit!"
It was an amazing experience!
