Story

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I’m back on my feet and it’s my time to raise some money and support an institution that has significantly played a major role in keeping me alive today.

In November 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer. I was admitted to The Christie hospital and shortly found out the extent of my ordeal. My duodenum (the first part of my small bowel) was compressed as the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes, causing an obstruction, hence preventing me from eating.

I spent my 28th birthday in an operating theatre to have holes drilled
into my body in order to provide nutritional feeds. This was an attempt to boost my immune system before the start of 4 months of hell; intense chemotherapy. Then followed the actual treatment; the constant feeling of throwing up, weakness, crying and sleepless nights, hooked onto several tubes, undergoing multiple procedures and a major surgery, were certainly all part of the package.

Being an inpatient for 5.5 months, without being able to eat was physically and mentally challenging. I lost my independence, stuck on a bed in a completely unfamiliar environment. However, so many of those obstacles were overcome through the help of the amazing staff at The Christie hospital. I was extremely fortunate to be looked after by some of the most caring and lovely people who are extremely passionate about their jobs. They will always have a special place in my heart, especially the superheroes on ward 11.

I’ve chosen to do a 10,000 feet tandem skydive to step out of my comfort zone and raise funds for The Christie, to make a difference to the many lives of cancer patients. Coming back after an intensive treatment and a major surgery, I feel a 10,000 feet jump is definitely a huge challenge that I look forward to taking on.

I am also doing this for my parents, siblings, family, friends, colleagues and all the amazing staff at The Christie hospital who played a massive part to my positivity, survival and recovery during the lowest part of my life.

Please support me by donating to this page. Every penny will make a difference to someone’s life. Any small donation will mean the world to me and to those affected.

I’ve booked the skydive for my 29th birthday in December 2019. Wish me
luck!

Please note: I am paying for my own skydive; so all the money
raised is going straight to The Christie Charity.
