Gaza has suffered from the combined effects of a crippling blockade and three wars since 2007, leaving most families impoverished and isolated from the rest of the world. 

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity." - Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 604
