10th July 2011-18.38 hr.
Dearest Sponsors,
It was dry and cool when I arrived at the queue point to start the race. My official photographer James/Jim left me standing in the queue and walk to the strategic photographic positions.
I started my 1 km queue to the starting point at about 8.20am and the race was delayed taking off from 9.45 to about 9.55. The Lord Mayor of Westminster made her speech to thank more than 25,000 runners who were raising money for 500 charities. Many runners came from afar-mentioning all over Uk, Hong Kong, South America, all over Europe. Then, followed by God Save the Queen. It was amazing to look back at the colourful mass of heads and bodies -all waiting to start the run. The Elite Runners began first, soon followed by us. I crossed the starting point at about 10 am and the first 2 km was easy for me as I think I took only 7-8 mins. Everything went well till 4km. I picked up a bottle of water and must have drank too quickly. Decision had to be made -to continue or to stop for the WC. With another 5.5km to go, I decided it was wise to attend to nature's call. Standing behind a queue of 15-20 men and women-I kept saying to myself with intention for those behind the loo doors: come on be quick. A few men walked out of the line and I assumed they would be joining other men who having a wee facing some walls. I must have lost 10 minutes. However, it was well worth it as I ran well till 8km. James took photos of me at 7.5km and the camera had recorded a time at 10.50am. Turning into Westminster Bridge, the Big Ben showed 10.55am. I told myself I must finish in 10 minutes but, my body started to weaken and my speed must have reduced. A man encouraged and announced : 300 metres to go and I felt that 300 metres was the tougher to run. I finished at 11.06am and taking a total time of 1 hour 6minutes before lessing the toilet visit.
Jim was there to praise me: well done-he said. Of-course, I collected my medal. Then, we met up with the CAMFED team leader and 15 other CAMFED runners.
All went well and a good eventful day. Both Jim and I are pleased that I return home safely.
Thank you again for all your supports and donations. I have owed lots to you all and hope our friendships continue and remain strong for years ahead.
with love, nancy 4661.

9th July 2011-Sat. A few minutes ago, while I was attending to my Race T-shirt, an email came through. Thank you so so much Shova and I am so lucky! Thank you for providing extra school shoes and I shall be writing your name on my Race T-shirt after this update. I am nearly hitting my secret target which now I can reveal. Only Jim knew from day one when I setted up the fundraising page. It's £4000. I hope a long time good friend whom I asked a few times will top it up soon.
bye for now, good health to all, nancy at 12.40 hours.
8th July 2011-Friday evening
The rain stopped just after 5pm and I ran my last training between 6 to 7pm..to Teddington Lock and return. The tide of the Thames River was high and it flooded a few patches of land. Many anglers already took their spaces along the bank and some with tents to spend the night. Due to a few days of heavy rainfall, the plants and trees looked denser and wild flowers bloomed in abundance, The fruits on the apple and pear trees were abundance and some already grew larger. I saw 2 ladies picking the larger apples and contained them in a push chair. They looked at me and talked among themselves. Perhaps they were a little embarassed.
My last training was relazed because I only ran 3-4 miles.
bye for now, nancy.
8th July 2011-08.53 am. Raining outside and will run the last training when the rain stop.
6th July 2011-Wednesday morning
I took a photo at 59-the starting point. The sunflowers were grown from seeds kindly given by an EcoFriendly Company at an Exhibition. Jim has nursed the seeds to strong flowering plants and with plenty of water each evening.
When I exited Kings Passage to the park, I heard a lady calling out: Ted, Ted, Teddy. She called out a few times and she was trying to get her little brown puppy to follow close to her. Soon Ted turned his head and ran behind the owner in opposite direction to my route. So, a thought crossed my mind and I ran the first mile for my charming and kind late father-in-law Ted-Teddy-Edward Robinson.
At Kingston Bridge, I took a photo of the directional sign -showing 3m to Hampton Court. Swans, geese, black birds and ducks were plenty along the river path. Anglers, some with tents, were dotted in the distance along the bank. For the interest of my sponsors, I stopped and chatted to Angler John. I asked and he allowed me to take his photo for my fundraising page. John told me he caught 3 large breams and missed 1 due to careless handling. He explained that completitions were mostly held on Sunday. Many Anglers were out for good day. (see photo of John).
At Hampton Court ground, visitors for the annual flower show were starting to arrive via ferries and other means of transport. I took a few photos of them but, not enough picture space to include. The scene of wild grasses and flowers before Hampton Court Bridge was pretty.(see photo). See photo of the directional sign at Hampton Court Bridge. By then, I already ran 1 mile for Ted and 3.5 miles for you all.
Inside Hampton Court Palace, the gates were opened to welcome the hundreds of visitors for the flower show. I followed a group and 'gate crashed' for free entry to the paid ground. I felt lucky to see a staff feeding the swan and her 5 cygnets and very quickly, the dozens of black birds flew in to share the food. (see photo) Then, I admired the handsomely manicured flower beds (see photo). In one of the gardens, 2 men were repairing the centre fountain. (see photo). I enjoyed my brief visit into the paid ground before I continued my run into Bushy Park. There, dozens of deer were out and about. (see photo). There, I met a man running with his dog and I tried hard to follow his speed. Not long, he was well ahead of me. (see photo)
Enjoy! and shall write again on Sunday, after my race.
Thanks a million for your support!
from nancy.
5th July 2011- Tuesday morning.
Dear Sponsors,
Perspiration pouring down my head right at this moment writing to you all. I ran to Teddington Lock and returned to Canbury Park which is about 3 miles. I stopped because I felt cold sweat and not a good sign to carry on more miles or kilometres. Being off the training tracks for more than 2 weeks had made it tougher for my muscles. However, nothing to worry about cause I will definitely run well on 10th July 2011.
It was a hot morning. The river is on my right, with calm water and perfect reflections of everything along the river bank. A row of 5 boats-white, turquoise, purple with yellow, red with navy blue and yellow with deep green and their perfect colourful reflections drew my attention. I thought it would make a perfect postcard for me to write: Wish you are here! I wished I had a camera to capture the scene for you all.
The apple and pear trees were covered with little green fruits. Brambles were abundance and a jam maker will be out picking them soon. Grasses and wild plants were some taller than me and covered the view to some stretch of the river.
At Teddington Lock, it was quiet and peaceful. Only the sight of a man picking up the drops from his dog. What a friendship-Man's best friend is his dog.
cheerio for now, nancy
16th June 2011
Summer days were few for the last 2 weeks. It rained often and rather cold. Tuesday's weather was hot and dry and so I was able to ran to Hampton Court and returned via Bushy Park and, with 2 sisters-also my generous sponsors-walking behind me for the full 5-6 miles tracks. I was unkind to make them walk for such long distance..telling them another 20 minutes when it would take them 30.
Thank you to Pacific Food Industries Pty-Brisbane for their generous sponsored sum. I am indeed very near to my secret target.
Will keep you all posted about my race day.
best wishes,
nancy
3rd June 2011-
Hello Sponsors,
This morning, my steps for the first mile were much heavier and not to my liking. Then, when I was trying to remember all the things I saw and wanted to share with you all, I found myself running easily and in no time I arrived at Hampton Court Palace.
A pair of white swans took off with open wings and flew with great speed and loud powerful fluttering noises. Within seconds, they folded back their wings, flying low and about 2 feet above the Thames quiet water. They were like a pair of graceful Concorde aeroplanes. I felt so privileged to receive a such grand display from them.
White morning glories were blowing their trumpets among the spring green foliages. The air was cool and fresh. Many bunny rabbits were out and about for breakfast and fresh air . Some curious or brave, stood still and with their ears alert. Some zoomed into the bushes and some ran and paused to await the consequences.
The air was charged with a high density of pollens. At the rose garden, Hampton Court, the fragrance was wonderful and rose plants were in full bloom. Begonia and Marigold occupied the flower beds. Summer shrubs enhanced the wilderness garden. Hampton Court was quiet and not a person sitting on the countless wooden benches.
The returned 3 miles back home was effortless and all well and in one peice.
Best of health and happiness, nancy.

Dear Sponsors, Spring is definitely here and time for me to train and run well for you all. When I ran and come across beautiful things, I will write to tell you all. Be happy, nancy
Dear Sponsors
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When CAMFED asked me to run again, I could not refuse. I hope when I ask for your help, you can contribute whatever sum you can.
This year, I am lucky to be running in a new pair of Asics running shoes which were given to me by a young generous Singaporean businessman. I was invited to choose the best running shoes from one of his family sports shops in Singapore. With this kind gift, I hope to run well and raise more funds to provide school shoes for rural African girls to walk to school.
