Balls to Poverty · 13 April 2014

Balls to Poverty is a charity based in South Nottingham College which works with young people both in Nottingham and South Africa. Every year, students travel to South Africa to distribute footballs and rugby balls in townships, experiencing life in a different perspective.

Story

The charity 'Balls to Poverty' aim to use sport as a means of improving the lives of the underprivileged in Southern Africa. Children are exposed to gangs and violence, and many simply do not get the chance to experience an education; something we very much take for granted in the UK. Therefore in April 2014 I hope to travel to 20 different townships within Cape town.

I, along with other volunteers, will be coaching various sports to these children, and in doing so provide them with various opportunities to learn and enjoy in a way they currently simply cannot afford to do.

However, as I am going as a volunteer I am very much relying on the generosity of family and friends to fund, what would be an opportunity of a lifetime. Anything you could spare for the cause would be greatly appreciated.
