1 in every 200 babies born has a rare chromosome condition, and roughly a year ago, we received information that Isla is one of these babies. We were given a diagnosis of a condition - but we have yet to meet a doctor, speech & language therapist or physiotherapist who has ever heard of the condition, let alone treated anyone with it! 

Unique is the leading rare chromosome charity which supports families like ours and the health professionals involved. Unique is the only organisation that has been able to provide information about Isla's condition and it was their leaflet that was given to us when we went to hospital to get the initial diagnosis, and their support which has helped us to process the diagnosis and get connected to families in similar situations.

We are raising money to support Unique in their great work in improving understanding about rare chromosome conditions and supporting families affected by a diagnosis. Ultimately, we are raising money for children like Isla and families like ours - and for the many families who will have a truly unique child in the future - they just don't know it yet.
