BUPA Great North Run 2009 · 20 September 2009 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

This year, once again, i will be running the Great North Run. I am running for The Alzheimers Society- a fantastic cause. Alzheimers is the most common form of dementia. It is degenerative and incurable. The Alzheimers Society work to improve the quality of life of people suffering from Alzheimers. In addition and just as importantly they work to support the families who are faced with the demands of caring in a challenging situation.

With half my family running this years race (even Dad) i need to step up a level, and beat them, so have set myself (perhaps foolishly) a target time of 1 hr 50 - so training is going to be intense. Please dig deep and help me get above my target, by donating today and supporting, what i hope you will agree, is a very worthy cause.

Thank you so much to all who have donated, i managed to keep running the whole way around despite having doubts on running the week  before the race due to a calf/ ankle injury, not quite as good as last year in 2 hrs 9 minutes but another year i will reach that target of 1 hr 50 when injury free!!  Thanks again- so chuffed that i have managed to raised above my target for the Alzehimers Society.
