Story
I completed the Rugby half marathon last weekend in 2 hours 2 minutes so thank you so much to everyone who has helped me this term at uni and who has donated so far to raise money. I'm still raising money for a development project I'm taking part in this summer in Nepal with ODA (Oxford Development Abroad) so its not too late to donate. Even the smallest amount will help me get those final pounds to reach my target!
What I'll be doing in Nepal
I’ll be going out to work in a village for five weeks starting in August after completing initial training in the capital city and will help manage and work on construction projects - building and renovating classrooms, and building a water sanitation facility, public bathrooms and soak pits depending on which of the three involved villages I am based in. I will also have the chance to do some informal teaching of English which I am really looking forward too after experiencing teaching for the first time in Senegal last year. For more information about ODA please see their website www.odauk.org
Where the money goes
All the money I raise will go exclusively to the project I will be working on along with 4 other volunteers in a village in Nepal. The money pays for construction materials, employing local skilled workers and for administrative costs of the partner NGOs in Nepal among other essential project costs including five days training in Kathmandu. All projects are part financed by the communities meaning they have a big input in both initiating and financing any work done there.
If you have any questions about what I’m doing and why please email me at naomi.tyler@rocketmail.com
Thank you!
