Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As London Network Manager at The Girls' Network I see first hand the incredible impact that mentoring can have on teenage girls.
Consider Silvia, 17, from London. Silvia was suffering from a lack of confidence and self belief just before her GCSE exams, and was struggling at school, but her mentor helped her to deal with the anxiety and turn Year 11 around. Silvia began to attend school much more and made really good progress with English coursework, earning her target grade of a B in English Literature. She is now also applying for a Health & Social Care course at College and is organising work experience, with support from her mentor, at a hospital over the summer.
I also see first hand the continued struggle schools face in securing funding for programmes like ours. We're running on June 11th to make sure we can reach more girls like Silvia.
Remember, just:
- £50 could fully train a mentor
- £100 could pay for a girl's travel to and from events for a whole year
- £300 could pay for mentoring for a girl for 6 months
