30 years ago I was one of a team of British optometrists who joined VOSH, an American volunteer organisation in order to provide eye care services in eye camps in Tanzania. As there was no such organisation in UK, we formed Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) on our return and this has gone from strength to strength over the last 30 years providing eye care services and spectacles for those who need it in various underdeveloped corners of the world.
I would like to celebrate VAO's 30th anniversary and raise funds for them to continue the fabulous work they have been doing for the past 30 years - and what better way to do it than climbing the highest peak in Africa in the country where the journey for VAO began.
I would also like to assure everyone that I am funding this trek 100% with my own money therefore every penny raised will be going to VAO.
Please give generously for this wonderful organisation to continue it's sterling work.
