For years I have watched the London Marathon and have been in awe of the people that take part.  It is something I have always wanted to do but I have never had the courage to sign myself up.  Then, last year my friend was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and suddenly I found myself inspired to go for it.  So I did, and here I am about to embark on the biggest challenge of my life!  I will be joining the MS Superstars team to raise money for the very brave people that have to battle with this unpredictable disease every day.

Research for MS is progressing fast, but I also want to raise awareness and understanding of the condition, so here are some facts:

  • MS is an neurological disease which affects approximately 100,000 in the UK
  • It affects everyone differently
  • There is no cure but there are treatments and symptoms can be managed
  • It is a condition which affects the brain and/or spinal cord, causing a wide range of symptoms including fatigue, problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance
  • There are different types of MS, the most common type being Relapsing Remitting MS where people have distinct attacks of these symptoms, known as relapses

I have never ran more than 5 km before so this is going to push me to my limits, but I am excited to get my running shoes on and start my training!  For every inch of me that hurts through this I know that all I have to do is picture my amazing friend and I will get the boost I need to cross that finish line!

Wish me luck and please sponsor generously :):)  xxxxxx
