Story
I am a wife and mother. I don't run because I love it. I run because I love who I am when I'm done. I ran my first full marathon in 2016 as a way to deal with the tragic death of my older brother. Some days it's not about miles or speed, it's just therapy. Running has taught me to always push forward especially in the most difficult times. More importantly, it has taught me that I'm capable of so much more than I ever imagined. I've learned to be stronger than my strongest excuse. And I've learned to embrace the pain of grief and burn it as fuel for my running journey. Having ran over 40 half marathons and 5 full marathons, my end goal is to complete the 6 World Majors-running for something greater than me!
I run on purpose for a purpose. And I am so humbled to be running 26.2 miles on behalf of Gene People because being diagnosed with a genetic condition or having a child with an inherited condition can be life-changing and sometimes hard to navigate.
With 1 in 25 children affected by a genetic condition and over 30,000 babies, children and adolescents diagnosed a year, genetic disorders are no longer rare. Instead quite common!
Please help me further the mission of Gene People. To improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions.
