Cardiff & Vale Health Charity is the official Charity supporting all the wards and departments of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (CAV UHB). With 9 hospitals, 17 health centres and 300+ separate funds, every penny you donate is spent by senior doctors and nurses to benefit our patients.

Story

I am challenging myself to climb the Three Peaks, Snowdon (1,085m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Ben Nevis (1,345m) within 24 hours to raise funds for the "Better Life Appeal" which is under the umbrella of the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.  My wife Allison and dog Rocky will accompany me on my solo challenge, helping out with the driving between peaks and providing much needed sustenance and moral support.  Not only will I be be doing this challenge solo in June, but less than a month later, I'll be completing the three peaks for the second time with a group of lads from the Cardiff Saracens rugby team in July.

The Better life appeal raises vital funds for the only All Wales Adult Cystic Fibrosis Unit at Llandough Hospital in Cardiff.  The Unit  provides specialist care for adults in Wales with Cystic Fibrosis.  It is a charity that is close to my heart as it supports and treats my wife Allison Angell who has Cystic Fibrosis.  You may also know her as Allison John, being the first person in the World to have 3 different transplants from different donors, a liver when she was 17, heart and lung transplant at 19 and kidney transplant in 2006 from her dad.  She has defied the odds on numerous occasions and this inspires me to raise money for the Better Life Appeal.

Cystic Fibrosis is the the most common genetic condition to affect caucasians.  It is a life limiting condition that primarily affects the lungs, and digestive system making it difficult to breath and gaining weight problematic.  It causes a sticky, thick mucus to build up in the lungs which causes structural lung problems and repeated chest infections that inevitably end in respiratory failure and the need for lung transplant at an early age.  It can also cause joint pains, osteoporosis, chronic sinus problem, diabetes amongst many more problems.

Please support my challenge by donating to the Better Life appeal.  Every little donation helps.  Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
