Charcot Marie Tooth, commonly referred to as CMT is a inherited condition that causes weakness and wasting in peripheral muscles (mainly the hand and feet) due to damaged sensory and motor neurons.

CMT Kids is an off branch of my main CMT UK charity, that aims to helps kids come to terms with their condition and meet other kids in the shoes as them. Yearly CMT Kids hosts an adventure weekend for the youngsters to give them a chance to have some fun, maybe with rock climbing or canoeing, whilst also showing them that they can do anything they put their minds to.

I was first diagnosed with CMT when I was 14 (I am now 25 and a helper on the weekends), and didn't cope too well with it. I went on my first CMT Kids weekend when I was 16 and it helped me to see that CMT is not the end of the world. The CMT Kids is brilliant because it gives the kids a close knit set of friends that understand what they are going through.

This year the CMT Kids did a big trip to Australia to meet their Aussie counterparts! This was a once in a life time opportunity and the money we raise with this challenge shall help to fund the CMT Kids weekends and trips that make such a difference to the children!

About the Challenge- I have chosen to Wax my legs for the charity because it seems like a funny way to raise the money, whilst making a comment on the types of pain all CMT sufferers feel in the legs all the time
