Nayanka Paquete Perdigao is raising money for Cancer Research UK
Story
Hi everyone,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I will be running the London Bupa 10k marathon to raise funds for the Cancer Research Uk charity and would appreciate your support.My granddad used to tell me that in life we will face
many difficult challenges and may easily be tempted to give up, but that ultimately
the choice is always ours to do the right thing and face challenges head on. This
was a quality that always struck me in my granddad.
Unfortunately, I lost my beloved Granddad to cancer in
May 2009; after a long fight against cancer, the disease got the best of him.
He was brave until the end and gave me an extraordinary lesson of dignity in
the way that he endured the suffering inflicted by the disease.
Today around 290,000 people are newly diagnosed with
cancer each year. The overall cancer death rate continues to fall but cancer
still causes one in four deaths every year. Scientists have increased the pace
of progress, publishing thousands of papers yearly in peer-reviewed journals; And
continue to push forward with research, moving ever closer to beating
cancer. Please show your support
