Dear Family member/friend

Following on from last year's trip to Brazil, we are off once again on another short term mission project with Mission Direct.

This year we are going to Moldova, the poorest country in Europe, in July/August.  MD's principal project is refurbishing a church building in the town of Chircani.  The building was purchased by an MD volunteer last year for Gotesti Baptist Church for a church plant into the community which has no Christian witness.  Like most flat roofed buildings in that part of the world it has been badly damaged by rainwater leaking in through the broken roof.  A Sunday service is held in the only watertight room but the need is to be able to provide the community with:

1.  An evening youth club twice a week

2.  An outreach for vulnerable children whose parents work abroad leaving them with the extended family

3.  Sunday school classrooms

The church will be repairing the roof in early summer.  Our project will be to refurbish all six rooms making them habitable.  This will involve replacing the windows, repointing and rendering the outside walls, replastering, painting and decorating the inner walls and re-equipping the classrooms.

The environs of the building also need attention.  There will be opportunities to re-landscape the frontage by removing the old overgrown shrubs and replanting with new stock.

The purpose of this email is to ask if you would like to donate towards the costs of the building projects.  Every penny you give will go directly towards building costs, and not to administrative costs, salaries, or volunteers costs (flights, (sun cream for the 40degrees+ heat!) etc)

If you feel unable to give financially towards the project, don't worry, we would greatly value your prayers for the people of Moldova, for the success of the project, and for everyone taking part on the trip.
